Leningrad Cowboys

The Leningrad Cowboys (also known as the LC Cowboys) are a Finnish rock band that performs rock and roll covers as well as original compositions. They sport exaggerated "banana" pompadours and wear long pointed shoes. They have often collaborated with the Alexandrov Ensemble, a Russian military orchestra. The band was the brainchild of Finnish director Aki Kaurismäki, together with Sakke Järvenpää and Mato Valtonen, members of the Finnish comedy rock band Sleepy Sleepers. The three conceived the band in a bar in 1986, as a joke about the decline of Soviet power.
